A new year ... a year of fresh opportunities

Calendar

As we move into the new year, FaithFutures Foundation passes the 18 month "milestone." That seems both a short time and a long time. And it is. Both! Thank you for your interest and support as we head towards our second anniversary. May the year ahead be one we someday look back upon as a year characterized by justice, peace, and celebration.

Have you checked the online inventory of historical Jesus items recently?

Substantial progress has been made towards completing the initial online pages for all 522 items in the "HJ inventory" developed by John Dominic Crossan.

The growing collection is becoming an increasingly valuable resource for adult discussion groups, students, researchers, preachers and worship leaders. The clusters are used in the weekly advanceWORD materials (see below) and also as a focus for the reflections of the HODOS online community each week.

FFF TRUSTEES AT THE COAL FACE

Well, maybe there is no coal to be mined! However, a number of the Foundation's trustees are actively engaged in religious leadership:

Jane Lee Wolfe, our inaugural Presiding Trustee, is completing a two year term as World President of the YWCA. Several of Jane's publications are about to be released in digital editions by FFF.

Gregory Jenks, Executive Trustee of the Foundation, has recently accepted a 50% appointment as priest to the Forest Lake Anglican community in Brisbane, Australia. Keep an eye on his parish pages for sermons and other materials bringing faith and scholarship together.

Sherri Weinberg, another of our Trustees, is serving St Paul's Presbyterian Church in Devonport, New Zealand. Many of her Sunday liturgies and sermons are published on the FFF site.

The weekly advanceWORD materials are now going to subscribers in Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and the United States. The notes are designed for use by small groups meeting to preview the following Sunday's readings, but they can also be used by individuals. Some parishes have taken a collective subscription, with copies being sent (at no additional charge) to as many email addresses as they nominate. A basic subscription is US$2.50 a month (with the option of a single annual payment of US$30.00), but you are welcome to take a free trial subscription.

FFF Calendar

As a service to people around the world, FFF provides free listing for events that may contribute to the shared task of "futuring faith." We make a special effort to include public events featuring FFF Advisors: Marcus Borg, John Dominic Crossan, John Shelby Spong, or Walter Wink.
