Texts

(1a) 2Q: Luke 12:57-59 = Matt 5:25-26

/12:57/ "And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? /58/ Thus, when you go with your accuser before a magistrate, on the way make an effort to settle the case, or you may be dragged before the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer throw you in prison. /59/ I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the very last penny."

= Matt 5:25-26
/5:25/ Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are on the way to court with him, or your accuser may hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison. /26/ Truly I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.

(1b) Did 1:5b

/5/ Give to everyone what he asks of you and do not ask for it back, for the Father wants people to give to everyone from the gifts that have been freely granted to them. Blessed is the person who gives according to the commandment, for he is guiltless. Woe to the person who takes. If someone takes something because he is in need, he is guiltless, but if he is not in need he shall have to give an account of why he took and for what purpose; if he is imprisoned he shall be interrogated about what he has done, and shall not go free until he has paid back the last penny. /6/ But then about this sort of thing it has also been said, "Let your charitable gift sweat into your hands until you know to whom you are giving it." [Hermeneia]
