Texts

(1a) Mark 14:12-16

/14:12/ On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb is sacrificed, his disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to go and make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?" /14:13/ So he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, "Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him, /14:14/ and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks, Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?' /14:15/ He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there." /14:16/ So the disciples set out and went to the city, and found everything as he had told them; and they prepared the Passover meal.

= Matt 26:17-19
/26:17/ On the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Where do you want us to make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?" /26:18/ He said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, 'The Teacher says, My time is near; I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.'" /26:19/ So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the Passover meal.

= Luke 22:7-14
/22:7/ Then came the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. /22:8/ So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover meal for us that we may eat it." /22:9/ They asked him, "Where do you want us to make preparations for it?" /22:10/ "Listen," he said to them, "when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him into the house he enters /22:11/ and say to the owner of the house, 'The teacher asks you, "Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"' /22:12/ He will show you a large room upstairs, already furnished. Make preparations for us there." /22:13/ So they went and found everything as he had told them; and they prepared the Passover meal. /22:14/ When the hour came, he took his place at the table, and the apostles with him.

(1b) GEbi 7

Ch. 7 They take it on themselves to obscure the logic of the truth and to alter the saying, as is evident to everyone from the context, and make the disciples say:

/1/"Where do you want us to get things ready for you to eat the Passover meal?"

And apparently they make him answer:

/2/"I certainly have not looked forward with all my heart to eating meat with you at this Passover, have I?"

Anyone can detect their deceit because the sequence makes it obvious that the mu [m] and the eta [h] have been added. Instead of saying, "I have looked forward with all my heart" they add the additional word me ("not" mh). Now in fact he said, "I have looked forward with all my heart to eating the Passover meal with you." However, they deceive themselves by adding the word "meat," and they do evil by saying, "I do not look forward to eating meat with you at this Passover." (Epiphanius, Haer. 30.22.4) [Complete Gospels]
